New to Denver? Ready to find new employment in Denver’s hot job market? Finding a job in Denver can be easier when using an employment agency. Staffing agencies are looking for quality candidates to provide their clients, your potential employers. The incentive to fill their client’s employment vacancies, make them ideal to work with in your job search.

Your Homework is Done

Working with an employment agency like AimHire means some of your homework is done. When searching for a job, it is a good idea to learn more about the company both to see if they are a good fit for you, but to also learn more to know what questions to ask of them during the interview stage. A staffing agency knows the employers, their culture, and their needs. They have already “interviewed” them, therefore when they make the connection between you and the employer, it is already a better match than simply responding to an ad with an unidentified company.

With many employment agencies, they will likely have already forwarded your resume to their client, and it is simply your role to interview. Here are a few tips to help the interview go well:

Show up on time.

Employers rightfully believe if you show up late to an interview, you will likely show up late to work. Plan extra time before the interview, knowing it is just part of life for things to come up. You may spill something on your shirt, hit a traffic jam or not be able to find parking. Give yourself time to make a good first impression. If you see that you are going to be late, call and ask if you can reschedule.

Dress appropriately.

Dress according to what the position would require on a day to day basis. If you aren’t sure, ask, or dress in business casual. If you have tattoos or piercings and you aren’t sure how the employer feels about them, it is best to remove them or hide them. You can ask about it during the interview if it seems appropriate. Be aware of your scent and appearance, including limiting the amount of fragrance you apply.

Be confident.

Practice with a trusted friend if you are nervous about the process. Many times a simple smile can communicate confidence, as does eye contact, a firm handshake and good posture. Lean forward to show interest and listen without interrupting or interjecting. Show interest in the position by stating so and asking what the next step in the process looks like.

Have manners.

Thank your interviewer(s) and if appropriate, send a follow up communication. Limit or remove any negative talk of your past or current employer. Work to build rapport with the interviewer, without getting too personal. Answer questions to the best of your ability and if you are unclear, ask for clarity.
